Chelsea have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel following their 1-0 Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night .
The 49-year-old former Borussia Dortmund and Paris St-Germain boss leaves Stamford Bridge after 20 months.
A club statement said the owners believed it was “the right time” to bring in a new head coach.
Tuchel took charge of 100 games for Chelsea having taken over from club legend Frank Lampard in January 2021.
He guided the club to Champions League glory with a 1-0 win over Manchester City just a few months later.
In August, he was in talks over extending his contract, which was due to expire in 2024.
It is believed that Tuchel had lost the confidence of the players and the board in recent times, and had become less communicative with both groups.
Chelsea had won just seven of their last 16 Premier League matches, starting this season with two defeats in their first six games to fall five points behind leaders Arsenal.
Those rumored to be in the picture to succeed Tuchel include former Tottenham and PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, Brighton manager Graham Potter and ex-Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane.
