MP-elect Didimus Baraza Released on KSH. 10M Bond

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has been  freed on a 10 million shilling cash bail with a surety of Ksh. 5 Million after denying murder charge.

Barasa, who has been in police custody for the past 10 days, has in the granting bond, also, Justice Paul Otieno ordered that Barasa should not set foot in his Bungoma County home or interact with any witnesses in the case until they all give their testimonies in court.

The Kimilili MP elect was accused of killing dead Brian Olunga, an aide to Kimilili politician Brian Khaemba on voting day.

The MP-elect denied the murder charge on Monday with his lawyer, Nathan Tororei, urging the court to release him on bail.

 Following the arrest an autopsy examination on the body of Olunga showed he died of a pistol bullet which struck the right side of his head.

Police have so far recovered the pistol the MP-elect used in the attack. Barasa, who is a licensed gun holder, has however denied shooting the victim who was buried last Saturday.

Didmus Barasa had pleaded not guilty in a murder case. He took a plea at a kakamega court after Police said he would not appear in Bungoma for security reasons.

Kakamega court has set mention for November 14.
