The Kenya-Finland International Conference on enhancing Education in Kenya has entered day two day.
Partners from the education sector are engaging in a four-day conference that was officially opened yesterday on improving the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of Education Sara Ruto says the delegates are mainly focusing on the place of assessment and the place of the teacher under the CBC curriculum.
She further says that the conference is addressing the important factors affecting the performance of the curriculum, even as the government continues implementing its reforms in the country.
“One of the key things we are focusing on is the construction of classrooms to ensure a seamless transition. The government has also been talking with various actors, many of which are said to have established institutions; capacities in existing schools have also been expanded,” said Ruto.
“Increasing equality among schools is about giving more resources but also sharing information because most of the challenges we have can actually be resolved with a lot of community support from the private sector,” she added.
According to the Director at Tampere University of Applied Sciences in Finland – Carita Prokki, the two countries are also partnering in order to offer Kenyan University scholars learning opportunities in Finland.
“The Finland government has collaborated with the Kenyan government in terms of bringing higher education students to Finland to study nursing, risk management and physiotherapy under the Finnish system of Education,” said Prokki.
