Azimio la Umoja files petition at Supreme Court of Kenya

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has filed a presidential election results petition at the Milimani law courts.

Odinga who was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua and their lawyers arrived at the supreme court registry at 1 pm with a truck loaded with boxes of evidence. 

After filing the petition, Odinga then headed to the KICC where he addressed Azimio leaders and supporters.

Odinga assured his supporters that the coalition party has enough evidence to overturn the IEBC declaration of William Ruto as the President-elect.

Lawyer James Orengo who is one of the lawyers representing Azimio also exuded confidence in the petition noting that the final verdict will be in their favour .

The Siaya county governor-elect, noted there are several smoking guns that point out the irregularities of the presidential election.

In case of a re-run, the senator added that they will seek to have the IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati removed at the apex of the commission.

A second presidential election petition has been filed by a voter named John Njoroge Kamau. The petitioner has listed the four dissenting IEBC commissioners as interested parties in the petition.

These are vice chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Irene Masit, Justus Nyang’aya , Francis ,Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu Wanderi.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate  Martha Karua,  have also been listed as interested parties.

Kamau has listed IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, President-elect William Ruto and Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua and the IEBC as respondents.
