Chief Justice Martha Koome has been tasked to appoint judges who will hear the case of the former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko that challenges the decision of the Apex court over his political ambitions.

Sonko petitioned the Supreme Court, where he seeks to reverse its decision to uphold his impeachment.

Supreme Court registrar Bernard Kasavuli made the directive and told the lawyers the hearing date for Sonko’s two applications will be communicated once Koome appoints the Bench.

The bench will also decide on Sonko’s application for disqualification of the CJ from the case.

Sonko is also seeking to adduce 20 video clips as evidence to convince the top judges to review their decision to uphold his impeachment.

At the same time, the former governor has filed an appeal at the East African Court of Justice challenging the decision of the Supreme Court.
