Kenya finish 4th in Oregon with two gold five silver and two bronze medals

Mary Moraa managed to grab the bronze medal in the women 800 metres after finishing third with a personal best of one minute 56.71 second as the world athletics championship came to a close.

Jacob Krop clinched silver in the men 5000 metres race in a time of  13.09.98 seconds. The silver and bronze added to Kenya’s tally to finish fourth on the medal standing.

Krop was behind Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen who made up for his 1,500 metres disappointment by winning in emphatic style.

Ingebrigtsen came home in 13 minutes, 09.24 seconds ahead of Krop of Kenya who timed 13:09.98, while Uganda’s Oscar Chelimo found a home-straight burst to take bronze in 13:10:20

Emanuel korir gave Kenya the second gold medal in the 800 metres race in a time of one minute 43.17 seconds beating Djamel sedjati of Algeria and Marco Arop of Canada.

In the 5000 metres women race Beatrice Chebet managed silver in a race won by Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay.

Kenya finished the championship with two gold , five silver and  two bronze medals.

The other gold medal was clinched by Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon in the women 1500 metres.

The Kenyan team will now focus on the 22nd edition of the commonwealth games that start on 3rd August 2022 in Birmingham United Kingdom.
