The National Council of Churches of Kenya has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to regularly update Kenyans on the preparations and readiness for next month’s election.
In a statement read by Secretary General Canon Chris Kinyanjui, NCCK implored the Judiciary to defend justice and rule of law through quick conclusion of election-related cases.
The clerics urged the electoral body to obey court orders in matters relating to the elections noting that failure to do so would amount to denying Kenyans the right to choose their leaders.
Citing the case of Reuben Kigame in which the court directed that his name be on the presidential ballot, NCCK said IEBC has no choice but obey the orders.
