Azimio La Umoja Presidential Candidate Raila Odinga has promised to lower the cost of living within the first 100 days in office if elected President come 9th of August.

Speaking from Kinango in Kwale County Odinga said this will be done through cutting down on government expenditures, and channeling more funds to programmes that will see the reduction of prices of basic commodities.

According to Odinga, the government will also grant subsidies to some of the essential products such as fuel, which determine the cost of other products.

“Our government intends to hit the ground running and implement interventionist policies that reduce the cost of living from day one,” said Odinga.

“We are talking about reducing the price of essential commodities such as maize flour, cooking oil and petrol.”

He added that his government will work with local and foreign companies supplying the products to develop a plan, that would see them subsidize some of the costs while ensuring that they still remain in business.

Meanwhile his running mate Martha Karua called on Kenyans to support Odinga’s candidature.

“If you want to know who to vote for, check the history of all leaders seeking to be president, if look through my Principal Raila Amolo Odinga, you will realize you have benefited from his struggle.” said Karua.

“He is the General of our second liberation. He is also the General of our devolution. He fought for the new constitution, and you are now enjoying the fruits of devolution.”
