Lucas Torreira will return to Arsenal next season after Fiorentina opted against making the midfielder’s loan move permanent.
Torreira has blamed unnamed people “those acting in a bad way” for the collapse of a transfer.
Fiorentina agreed a €15m (£13m) fee with Arsenal when finalising the loan move last summer, payable over three seasons, but this week reportedly offered less than half to keep Torreira.
Torreira – who has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract – had even agreed personal terms with Fiorentina, but will now return to the Gunners next month.
“Know I did my best to continue forming part of this club,” Torreira posted across his social media channels. “But unfortunately there were those acting in a bad way.
“According to my understanding, they managed to stop this happening and that’s why I must go.”
Torreria, known to be unhappy at Arsenal, is now expected to look for another avenue out of the club.
