Golden state warriors in the NBA finals

Klay Thompson scored a game-high 32 points and the Golden State Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals for the sixth time in eight seasons beating Dallas 120-110 on Thursday night.

The Warriors won the best-of-seven Western Conference finals 4-1 and will seek a first title since 2018 in June’s showdown against either the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat.

Golden State have won NBA crowns in 2015, 2017 and 2018 – beating the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers each time , but lost the 2016 and 2019 finals and spent the past two seasons rebuilding the roster.

Golden State began this season with the clear intent to end their two-year playoff drought.

They posted a league-best 17-3 record through the first 20 games, powered by the MVP-level form of Curry.

The eight-time All-Star, who turned 34 in March, was the NBA’s leading scorer through that stretch, averaging 28.6 points per game while shooting 42.3% from three-point range.
