President Uhuru Kenyatta officially opened the Central Bank of Kenya Pension Towers in Nairobi central Business District on Thursday.
Uhuru lauded the appearance of the ultra-modern building which he says it used most locally available materials for construction.
“With the addition of this skyscraper, our capital city of Nairobi skyline now acquires not just a new building, but one whose design is very bold and without question, very distinctive,” Uhuru said.
Uhuru also appreciated the pension fund board members who says through its management enabled the funding of the project adding that it was admirable that the construction of the building did not cost a penny came from treasury.
“In between, we have the Pension Towers, the Pension Fund and the CBK as the anchor of support for our retirees,” CBK Pension Fund chair Dominic Mwenja said.
Nonetheless President Uhuru Kenyatta says the Government has over the past decade significantly improved the welfare of senior citizens in the country.
Kenyatta said his government will ensure CBK pensioners get access to better services.
“This is a testament to how we view our retirees. Our retirees give us the best years of their lives, it’s incumbent upon us to make sure that they are comfortable in their golden years.”
Mwenja said the whole idea behind the construction of the building was to ensure CBK retirees have a comfortable life after years of service.
