Azimio Running Mate Interviwing Panel Delivers Candidates Report To Raila

The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition vetting panel has handed in the shortlisted candidates whom they recommended for the position deputy president in upcoming August General Election.

Dr. Noah Wekesa, who chaired the committee, says it has submitted a list of three names to the coalition’s flag bearer Raila Odinga.

The former Member of Parliament howeve declined to reveal the three names, only stating that the final pronouncement would be made by Odinga.

“The panel has dispatched its final recommendation to the candidate (Raila Odinga) this morning. This follows the inability of the candidate to disengage from the political activity he is engaged in to come to us to receive the report,” said

The committee outlined their mode of selection used in picking the three final candidates from a list of 11 individuals The panel interviewed the candidates in line of the candidate’s constitutional qualification, understanding of government, personality, political acumen, loyalty and compatibility with the coalition’s candidate.

Candidates who were vetted include Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Sabina Chege from Jubilee Party, NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu of NARC, Peter Kenneth, Ali Hassan Joho of ODM and Stephen Tarus of National Liberal Party.

Others are Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya, deputy ODM leader Wycliffe Oparanya and Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui. KANU Party chairman Gideon Moi who had earlier been shortlisted opted out of the race to endorse Kalonzo.
