KANU Party leader Gideon Moi now wants Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka to deputize Raila Odinga in the August General Election.

In a letter to the Azimio la Umoja running mate selection panel, the Baringo Senator says Kalonzo is more qualified among those mentioned as Odinga’s possible running mates.

“The Kenya African National Union (KANU) proposes and submits the name of H.E Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as its preferred candidate for the position of Deputy President in the forthcoming General Election,” said Gideon.

“It is our considered opinion, and we strongly believe that Stephen Kalonzo fits the bill and is the most suitable to deputise Raila Amolo Odinga. It is our sincere hope that this panel will consider and find him appropriate for the position of the Deputy President and consequently recommend his selection,” he further said.

This comes as Azimio Candidates seeking the Coalition’s Running Mate nomination, have until close of business today to submit their names.

On Wednesday, Chairperson of Azimio Coalition’s Running Mate Selection Panel – Noah Wekesa said those interested in the position do not have to physically appear before the panel.

The seven-member team canceled interviews for candidates seeking to deputize Odinga, that were to be held on Wednesday.

Among those seeking the Deputy Presidential Aspirant Post in Azimio are: NARC Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua, Narc Party Leader Charity Ngilu, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Governors Ali Hassan Joho of Mombasa, Lee Kinyanjui of Nakuru, Alfred Mutua of Machakos,  Agriculture CS Peter Munya and James Mwangi of Equity Bank.
