Statehouse Senior secretary Kennedy Kihara says preparations for the funeral of the late retired third President Mwai Kibaki are underway, and almost complete.
His final Journey is on Saturday, 30th April 2022.
There is setting up of tents, and construction of roads, leading to the venue of the ceremony in his Othaya home in Nyeri County.
Meanwhile his body is lying in state for the third and final day at Parliament buildings in Nairobi, for public viewing.
His requiem Mass will be held on Friday 29th April 2022 at Nyayo National Stadium.
At the same time, the Government has set up a condolence website for former President Mwai Kibaki, to allow the public to eulogize and pay tribute to the former head of state.

Kennedy Kihara says the funeral steering committee has approved a plan to accommodate 15,000 people during the funeral, among them; Kibaki’s family, the clergy, guests from other countries, Kenyan officials and other mourners.
Mwai Kibaki’s body will be transported to Othaya in Nyeri County by road on Saturday.
