Azimio-one Kenya resolves to advisory panel to recommend Odinga’s running mate

The Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition party has resorted to an advisory panel to recommend a suitable candidate to be Raila Odinga‘s running mate.

Speaking after the coalition party council meeting that was chaired by president Uhuru Kenyatta, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said the recommendations will be made soon for Odinga to arrive at his pick.

We have mandated an advisory panel to recommend suitable candidates for running mate,” Azimio Council Secretary-General Junet Mohammed said.

The Council also resolve to appoint an advisory panel to recommend suitable candidates for the running mate slot,” Junet said.

The party executive committee will also oversee the appointment of party officials ahead of the general election.

The statement by the Azimio council did not however mention anything about the hotly contested Nairobi gubernatorial ticket.

The Azimio ticket has seen infighting with Westland MP Tim Wanyonyi maintaining that he is in the race to the ballot .

Jubilee’s Richard Ngatia and Agnes Kagure are also eying the ticket together with current governor Ann Kananu .

The entrance of former Nairobi deputy governor Polycarp Igathe has also complicated the decision for the Odinga led coalition.

The Council meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at KICC also resolved to create new structures in the coalition party.

They include; Coalition Elections Board, Coalition Elections Appeals Board, National Disciplinary Committee and Dispute Resolution panel.

National Coalitions Executive Committee will forward suitable names for the newly created structures.
