Liverpool breath down City’s neck one point away

Liverpool are now just one point away from leaders Manchester City after a 2-0 win over Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Diogo jota and Roberto Firmino got the crucial goals for the reds that take them on 69 points.

It was a ruthless performance by Liverpool who come home with all three points despite Arsenal giving it all.

The Gunners were arguably the better side in the first half and could have scored shortly after the break but Alisson produced a fantastic save to deny Odegaard.

Liverpool punished Arsenal a few minutes after that, with Thiago brilliantly feeding Jota, who put the ball past Ramsdale.

The Reds then doubled their lead through Firmino. Robertson did well to win the ball inside Arsenal’s defensive third and then set up Firmino inside the six-yard box. Bobby calmly slotted in.

The game was won after these two goals. Arsenal had a chance to pull one back late in the game but Martinelli’s effort from inside the box went wide.
