Eric Theuri is the new Law Society of Kenya president.
The incumbent, was elected the society’s 50th president following the resignation of Nelson Havi, who is eyeing the Westlands MP seat.
Theuri won at two of the largest polling centers of the Supreme court and Milimani law courts.
The president-elect was followed closely by Omwanza Ombati, while former LSK vice-president Caroline Kamende was third and former treasurer Bernhard Ng’etich was fourth.
There however were some shortcomings as some lawyers, among them advocate Alex Omasakha -from the Kakamega Law court-, who could not vote since their names were missing in the voters register.
“I am disappointed since I cannot take part in this important exercise” he said.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) presiding officer Elina Ochieng said they resolved the matter by engaging the LSK since the register was from them.
