Bayern Munich and Liverpool into the champions league quarters

Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick inside the opening 23 minutes as Bayern Munich thrashed Red Bull Salzburg to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Poland captain, on his 100th start in the competition, confidently slotted in two penalties inside 21 minutes, after twice being recklessly brought down by Salzburg defender Maximilian Wober, the second confirmed after a VAR review.

He added his third after chasing down an attempted clearance from goalkeeper Philipp Kohn to tap in from close range.

Muller scored twice with Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane getting a piece each to complete the rout. In the other tie Liverpool qualified despite losing one nil to Inter Milan.

Martinez got the only goal but Inter failed to level matters after Alexis Sanchez saw red following a challenge on Fabinho.

The reds were carrying a 2-0 advantage from the first leg meaning the aggregate went to their favor .
