DP William Ruto and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi on a 10-day US, UK tour

Ruto's reception in Washington

Deputy President William Ruto and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi have left the country for a 10-day tour of the United States and the United Kingdom.

DP Ruto is expected to engage in a conversation on foreign policy, the future of governance and economic development in Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent.

He will also meet officials of the State Department and the Pentagon as well as the US Government National Security Council Advisor.

On the other hand, Mudavadi is set to give an address during his trip to Kenyans living in the diaspora in a bid to drum up support for his presidential bid in the August General Election.

This visit comes at a time when Ruto is facing an onslaught from President Uhuru Kenyatta who has since endorsed the ODM leader Raila Odinga as his successor.

National Assembly Clerk Michael Sialai says, the Parliament has facilitated the MPs with air tickets for their travel, following a request by the Office of the Deputy President.

MPs Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga Woman Rep), Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu) and Soipan Tuya (Narok) notified Speaker Justin Muturi of the trip.

After consultations, necessary approvals were made that we buy them air tickets as per government regulations,” Sialai said.
