Four DCI officers arrested over robbery with violence

Four police officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Langata have been charged with robbery with violence.

The four were accused of abducting one Vincent Ochieng Odembo at NextGen Mall along Mombasa Road on 6th of February 2022.

Court documents indicate that they were armed with two AK 47 rifles and two Ceska pistols which they allegedly used to rob Odembo.

The four who include Anthony Muvaka, Cornelius Stephen, Tom Omondi and Kennedy Omondi were arrested on February 11th 2022, after abducting and robbing Odembo 312,700 shillings.

Reports say, the victim was waiting for a taxi, when his was abducted.

“The victim was forcefully bundled into a waiting vehicle belonging to the four detectives,” said the DCI.

The four who appeared before Chief Magistrate Wendy Michemi and were granted a bond of 500,000 shillings and one surety and a cash bail of 300,000 shillings each.

The case will be mentioned on the 3rd of March 2022.

Meanwhile, DCI Boss George Kinoti says the Directorate shall spare no effort in bringing such criminals who taint the image of the entire Police service to justice.

He urged Kenyans who may have suffered in the hands of the four or other rogue officers to immediately report to the Serious Crimes Unit headquarters for action.
