Ghana are out of the AFCON after a shock 3-2 defeat in the hands of debutants Comoros islands.
El Fardou Ben Nabouhane put the islanders ahead early on, and Ghana then went down to 10 men when Andre Ayew was shown a straight red card.
Ahmed Mogni doubled the lead before the Black Stars fought back to make it 2-2.However, Mogni tapped in his second in the 85th minute to inflict Ghana’s first group-stage exit since 2006.
Ghana had put in disjointed displays in their first two games, a 1-0 defeat by Morocco and a 1-1 draw with Gabon.
They finish bottom of the group table despite putting in a spirited display following Ayew’s 25th-minute sending off.
Comoros on the other hand will be hopeful to get to the next round of 16 as one of the third best teams.
The group was won by Morocco with seven points and Gabon second with five after they played out to a one all draw.
Two top nations in the six groups go through to the last 16 together with four of the best third placed nations.
So far Malawi and Cape Verde have finished third with four points of one win and a draw.
