George Natembeya resigns as R.Valley regional commissioner to focus on Trans-Nzoia gubernatorial race

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has resigned after 25 years in the Security docket to focus on politics.

Speaking during a press conference in Nakuru, Natembeya announced that he will be seeking to vie for the Gubernatorial seat in Trans Nzoia County in the August Elections.

Natembeya said he has already handed in the resignation to the inspector general of police Hillary Mutyambai. 

He recounted all his successes  in the police service adding that he will replicate it as the Transnzoia governor. 

Natembeya will be coming up against Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya, Trans-nzoia Woman Representative Janet Nangabo and Abraham Simoi in what is expected to be a highly competitive race to succeed the incumbent Patrick Khaemba.

Natembeya  has however not mentioned which party ticket he will be using for his bid. 

Devolution CS Charles keter has also declared his interest to be the next  Kericho  county governor and is expected to resign from government early next month . 

Several other Cabinet Secretaries, and some government officials in various ranks cutting across are expected to resign on or before the 9th of February to vie for political office.
