The Kenya National Highways Authority [KeNHA] has issued a notice on the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway affecting the flow of traffic along Mombasa Road.

In the notice, KeNHA says the ongoing construction works on the road will cause major traffic disruption in five sections along the expressway.

It further says the U-Turn from Allpack Service Road along Mombasa Road has been blocked, giving an alternative route for motorists.

Motorists are urged to continue exercising caution and road courtesy as that will manage traffic better,” KeNHA stated.

The authority further warned motorists of possible cases of flooding which have already been experienced in some roads within the capital.

Due to the ongoing rains various sections of the road have experienced flooding and the civil and drainage works have been prioritised in the affected sections,” warned KeNHA.

It however noted that plans were underway to resolve the issue.

Other sections to be affected include the General Motors area, Capital Center, and Bunyala Roundabout extending to the University Way.

KeNHA however says the section between Haile Selassie to the University Way Roundabout and Gateway Mall which had been closed, will be opened on 15th of December 2021.

Construction of the elevated section of the road stands at 93 per cent completion while construction of the operation of the monitoring center stands at 98 per cent.
