Chief Justice Martha Koome has defended herself against DP William Ruto allies who cautioned her for being involved with the multi-sectoral committee on election.
Speaking at the devolution conference ,Justice Koome said the Judicial service act gives her the mandate to be involved in government agencies to ensure justice is achieved.
Furthermore ,Justice Koome maintained that the judiciary cannot work in isolation from other government agencies .
“The judiciary is independent from other government bodies and cannot lose its independence while ensuring that processes are followed to obtain justice” Koome said.
The chief Justice is the chair of the multi-sectoral team that also involves IEBC, and the interior ministry.
DP Ruto Allies led by Garissa Township MP Aden Duale said they are going to make a formal protest in days to come .
Duale said Justice Koome should stay clear from matters of IEBC in order for her, to not to be compromised in case of a Presidential election petition.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also came to the defense of the chief Justice and asked UDA politicians not to engage cheap arguments . Mutua also reminded that former Chief Justice David Maraga handled the multi sectoral team when he was in the judiciary.
