Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana tops in best performing governors

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has been ranked best performing governor at 80 percent, in matters development, in a report released by Insight Strategists Solution Africa.

Muranga Governor Mwangi wa Iria came second with 73.4 percent and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya came third with 71.3 percent.

Others governors ranked top ten include Josphat Nanok, Mwangi wa Iria , Anyang Nyong’o, Jackson Mandago, Alfred Mutua and Wilberforce Otichillo.

Acting Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu was ranked last with 19.4 percent.

The report reveals that Nairobi County might be feeling the impact of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services more which is running key functions transferred by the county government during the tenure of former Governor Mike Sonko.

It also shows that second term governors have a higher overall development score than first term Governors.

This was attributed to the more time they had to implement projects.

The report was on the implementation of the fourth schedule of distribution of functions to county governments.

The research was conducted in all 47 counties between 7th and 9th of September.
