Ministry of Health records increased Covid-19 vaccine uptake

4,183,552 Covid-19 doses have so far been administered across the country.

Of these, 3,135,700 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,047,852.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is 33.4 percent, with the proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 3.8 percent.

Nairobi County is leading in regards to vaccination, with 12.6  percent of its population having fully vaccinated.

It is followed by Nyeri at 9.5 percent, Uasin Gishu at 5.9 percent, Laikipia 4.8 percent , Nyandarua 4.6 percent, Nakuru 4.2 percent.

Marsabit County has the least vaccinated persons with those fully vaccinated at 0.4 percent.

The increased Vaccine uptake has been attributed to the different inoculation drives targeting different sectors.

The state recently rolled-out a drive specifically for the Public Service Sector, under the theme ‘Pata Chanjo, Tuimarishe Usafiri ‘.

It also launched a Covid-19 vaccination drive for frontline personnel in the Tourism and Hospitality sector.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a population of over 27, 000, 000 persons.
