National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi directs finance committee to expedite on high fuel cost petition

Speaker of the national assembly Justin Muturi  has directed that the petition by Matungulu MP Stephen Mule on the high cost of fuel be handled by the national assembly finance committee.

Making the ruling , Muturi said only a resolution of the house through a committee can resolve the fuel cost matter.

Leader of majority Amos Kimunya however asked the committee of finance led by Homabay MP Gladys Wanga to be balanced when addressing the cost of fuel issue.

Kimunya added that the VAT imposed on fuel products had already been factored in the current budget and removing it will mean redoing the budget .

Earlier at the Senate, the energy Committee chaired by Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina said action must be taken against  the  CS for Petroleum John Munyes and Energy CS Charles Keter for failing to show up in a meeting to explain the high cost of field.

Senators Mutual kilonzo Junior and Moses Wetangula also expressed their disappointment and called for the reprimanding of the cabinet secretaries.
