President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a number of Nyanza leaders and top governmental officials at State House Nairobi, today.
The meeting comes days before the president’s development tour in the region later this week.
The President will also lead the nation in marking this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Kisumu county.
Member of Parliament for Seme Constituency in Kisumu, Dr. James Nyikal said they discussed a number of developmental issues affecting the Nyanza region and Kenya at large.
HeaLth CS Mutahi Kagwe who was also in attendance, said President Uhuru and the former Prime minister Raila Odinga were determined to develop the nation.
Kagwe yet again called on Kenyans to continue observing the Covid-19 safety measures.
This as the nation approaches Madaraka day.
Meanwhile, Burundi’S President Evariste Ndayishimiye will jet into the country on Monday, to attend the Madaraka Day celebrations in Kisumu.
According to government sources, President Ndayishimiye might be the only foreign president to attend the ceremony.
The 1st of June celebrations will be an invite-only event as part of the COVID-19 measures.
Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o says only 3,000 persons have been invited to attend physically.
He also said that ministry of health safety protocols have been put in place and will be adhered to.
