The Council of Governors Health Committee has raised concern over the increased Covid-19-community transmission in counties outside the mapped disease zoned areas.

The zoned areas which are currently under lockdown include; Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kajiado and Machakos counties, that reported of high Covid-19 infections in the month of March.

However the governors now say, the Covid-19 transmission rate in the rest of the 42 counties is rapidly increasing.

According to Professor Anyang Nyongo, the Committee Chairperson, the scenario will greatly affect the country’s agenda of flattening the curve.

This comes after the government through the Ministry of Interior clarified that the ongoing curfew in the country will be enforced until the 27th of May 2021.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Health, on Wednesday reported a positivity rate of 13% with 981 new cases from a sample size of 7,529.

665 patients recovered, while 24 succumbed to the disease.
