Lily Chepng’etich Ngok nominated as new Kericho county governor

Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony has nominated Lily Chepng’etich Ngok as his deputy.

Ngok who was serving as the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Education, Sports and Social Services will replace the late deputy Governor Susan Kikwai who succumbed to Covid-19 on March 20th.

The nominated deputy governor was serving as the County Executive Committee member for Education, Sports and Social Services.

Governor Chepkwony says that he had taken into account that the late Kikwai hailed from the Kipkelion East sub-county and hence the nomination addresses continuity in the elective seats and gender balance in his administration.

“I can confirm that the nominee meets all the requirements for the nomination for the seat and has all the qualifications, leadership qualities, and compete necessary for such a demanding job,” he said.

He further says, the nomination is in line with article 182(2) of the Constitution as read with Section 32(C) and 32 (D) of the County Government Act No. 11 and Section 22,25 and 26 of the Elections Act, 2011.

He then asked the County Assembly through the Speaker to expedite the nominee’s vetting and approval process.

Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai, 60, was buried on Tuesday at her parents’ home in Tugunon village, Kipkelion West Constituency.
