Late Tanzanian President John Magufuli to be buried today in his home in Chato

The late Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli is set to be buried today.

A burial mass is currently ongoing at the Catholic Church after which Magufuli will be buried at his home in Chato, Geita Region. The Mass is being conducted by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) president, Archbishop Gervas John Nyaisonga.

A number of governmental, political as well as religious leaders in attendance, include; Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan,  Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Former Zanzibar President Mohammed Hussein, and former Tanzania Presidents Jakaya Kikwete and Hassan Mwinyi.

While addressing the congregation Catholic Archbishop of Mwanza, Jude Thaddaeus, mourned Magufuli as a leader who will forever be remembered for his good deeds.

Muslim Sheikh Abubakar Zuberi thanked Magufuli for the various places of worship that he build for the Muslim community.

Mr Magufuli died on March 17, from heart complications at Mzena Hospital.

BURIAL CEREMONY

While addressing the congregation president samia suluhu hassan mourned the late president magufuli notifying that she is aware of the responsibility that was left by the late magufuli and promised to hold the taskforce flag high to continue with the vision the late magufuli had for the country.

In a tweet, she also said, “Today as we lay to rest our beloved President Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli; on behalf of the People of the United Republic of Tanzania and on my own behalf i would like to thank fellow Compatriots; National Leaders, Religious Leaders, Political Leaders, Diplomatic Community, Media Houses, artists, musicians and everyone who has supported comforted and sent us condolence messages during this difficult and trying times for our nation. May our good Lord grant our beloved late President eternal peace. Amen.”

Former Tanzania president Jakaya Kikwete praised him for his great work he did and for being a firm leader who believed in his values and ensured his government worked with integrity.

He praised Magufuli as a very hardworking person who did not tolerate laziness, and theft

Catholic Archbishop of Mwanza, Jude Thaddaeus, mourned Magufuli as a leader who will forever be remembered for his good deeds.
