FA CUP Semis : Leicester plays Southampton and Manchester City take on Chelsea

Leicester City will play Southampton in one of the  FA Cup semi-final after a 3-1 win over Manchester United .

Kalechi Iheanacho was the star again for Leicester as he scored twice and a third from Tielemans to complete the win over a much changed United side.

Iheanacho took advantage of Fred’s awful backpass to round Dean Henderson to score in the 24th minute after the hapless Brazilian was played into trouble by captain Harry Maguire.

Mason Greenwood crowned a crisp United move to equalise before half-time but it was not enough despite the five substitutes made by Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said  “I’m obviously delighted. It was a great team performance.

Every aspect of the game was complete. We showed courage to play football against one of Europe’s greatest teams. I’m so happy for the players. I thought we thoroughly deserved it”

On the opposite side Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended his team selection saying he had to rotate and leave some of his tip players on the bench.

We played every three days and been on a great run. It just caught up with us – all the games and travels.“ he said .

In the other semi Chelsea will play Manchester City at Wembley . Chelsea beat shefields United 2-0 to sail to the last four. The Blues, beaten finalists last season, went ahead in fortunate circumstances as Ben Chilwell’s low cross was steered into his own net by Blades midfielder Oliver Norwood.

Chelsea broke in injury time and Hakim Ziyech scored their second with a low strike to take them into the last four for the fourth time in five seasons.

The semi finals are slated for 17th of April .
