Casual laborer arrested for defiling 7-year-old girl

Feb, 12th 2021 – A casual labourer at Nairutia centre, who is suspected to have defiled his 7-year-old step-daughter has been arrested. The man is said to have defiled the girl while her mother was away and thereafter leaving her helpless.

The grade one pupil reported the matter to the gender Gender Desk Officers moments before the suspect was traced and nabbed, as stated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. The victim has since been given medical attention, and the clothes worn on the fateful night secured for forensic examination.

According to the law, a person who commits an offense of defilement with a child aged 11 years or below shall upon conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for life.

Detectives found out that the suspect stays in a two bedroom house with his wife and the victim. The three shared one of the rooms on a common bed, leaving the other unoccupied.

The DCI said, “In the company of two female neighbors in whose home the girl had sought refuge, the Grade One pupil narrated her ordeal to the shock of Gender Desk officers, moments before the suspect was traced and nabbed.”

The DCI have thanked the neighbors in the case as they handled it with sensitivity handling the case delicately. They have urged them to continue cooperating with the police so as to keep children safe.

According to the DCI, the victim has been given medical attention, and the clothes worn on the fateful night secured for forensic examination.
