Kang’ata removed as Majority Chief Whip

Feb, 9th 2021 – Jubilee party has resolved to de-whip Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata from the Senate Majority Chief Whip seat.

Kang’ata is to be replaced by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju said the party arrived at a unanimous decision following a series of reasons, including breach of confidential matters.

He said Kang’ata made public, the matters they discussed in closed-door meetings concerning the party.

He also said, the senator declined to attend a Parliamentary leadership meeting to answer the accusations..

Earlier, Kang’ata who was at KICC, claimed that he has been removed after what he termed as a sincere truth about the controversial BBI document.

Senators allied to deputy President William Ruto led by Kipchumba Murkomen condemned the ouster of Kanga’ta saying the move was unfounded.

The decision will now be communicated to the Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka and a motion moved in the house for Kang’ata’s removal.

Murkomen had earlier claimed that the ouster was well planned to coincide with the expulsion of six nominated Senators in order to deny them the numbers when the motion is moved in the Senate.
