March, 3rd 2021 – London ward polling stations in Nakuru have already received ballot papers ahead of tomorrow’s by election.
The Independent and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is now urging locals to avail themselves for the exercise.
The electoral body says that all of the COVID-19 containment measures will be followed to guarantee the safety of the staff and voters.
Meanwhile, KANU candidate Kimani wa Kimani is speculated to have withdrawn from the by-election in support of the jubilee candidate. ODM’s candidate Stephen Adoch, also pulled out of the by-election to support Jubilee’s Francis Njoroge.
However, IEBC overseeing officer in the London ward by election, Gilbert Serem says it has not been formally informed of the withdrawal.
Training exercise for the clerks, presiding officers and their deputies in Nakuru has been finalized. This is according to Nakuru Town West Constituency returning officer Gilbert Serem and his Naivasha counterpart David Mbui.
Mr. Serem said, “We have also met the candidates and their agents. We are ready for the by-elections.”
Mbui on the other hand said, “All is set for the mini-poll. Officials have been hired and trained for the 41 polling stations in the ward that has over 24,000 voters. We have received all the necessary paperwork apart from ballot papers.”
