Kenya Army Women’s Volleyball Team delivered a dominant performance by overpowering struggling Nyandarua Young Spykers 3-0 in the final leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National Women’s League.

Kenya Army showcased superiority with aggressive attacks and a solid defensive line, sweeping all three sets with convincing scores of 25-11, 25-4, and 25-7.

With this win, Kenya Army secured the final play-off spot in 8th position.

“The win was important for us as it secured a play-off spot,” said Kenya Army head coach Rono Abraham after the match. “The league was very competitive this season, but we will focus on improving and aim to make a stronger statement next season.”

Despite the loss, Young Spykers head coach John Kimani remains optimistic about the team’s future.

“We are glad to have made our debut in the top-tier league. Finishing at the bottom isn’t ideal, but we’ve gained experience and will come back stronger next season,” said Kimani. “We have a young squad, and we’ll work on our weaknesses with the aim of qualifying for the play-offs next time.”

In another match, Kenya Prisons overcame a spirited DCI side 3-1 in a thrilling contest, reinforcing their strong presence in the league as they gear up for the play-offs.

“It was a tough match against a strong opponent, so this was a hard-fought victory,” said Kenya Prisons head coach Josphat Baraza. “The win places us comfortably in a safer position for the play-offs.”

On the other hand, DCI head coach Patrick Sang acknowledged his team’s efforts despite the defeat.

“It was unfortunate—we were eager to win,” said Sang. “They outplayed us, but we now shift focus to the play-offs where we aim to make a bold statement.”
