What leaders have said about Gachagua’s ouster plan

Kenya Kwanza to stop teachers' delocalisation if elected in August

The Quaker Church of Africa has called on leaders to end discussions on the impeachment of senior officials terming it a distraction from more pressing issues facing the country.

In a statement, the church said leaders should at this point focus on addressing key concerns related to the country’s stability instead of being obsessed with removing senior officials from office.

The church reminded the leaders behind the ouster motion that the DP and President William Ruto were elected as a team.

Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has also weighed in on an alleged plot to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with reports indicating the motion could be tabled Tuesday, next week.

In a statement, Kabogo said the impeachment is a personal challenge to the DP and he should not rope in the entire community.

“On the impeachment of DP Gachagua, most of us are focused on honesty and not just the outcome of this situation. Their alleged personal battles should not involve an entire community as a “shield”,” Kabogo said.

“Whatever transpires between the DP and President, Kenyans still want and demand development and progressive politics,” he added.

His remarks appeared to refer to a statement Gachagua made during an interdenominational funeral service for pupils who died in a fatal fire tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni, Nyeri county.

In a rare show of unity, more than 120 MPs from President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza and slightly more than 100 opposition MPs had signed petitions by late Thursday.

Members of parliament allied to DP gachagua led by Kiambu senator Karungo Thangwa have put Majority leader of the national assembly Kimani Ichungwa on notice over interference of the mountain Kenya region

Speaking when he accompanied the DP who Graced the Special General Meeting of Komothai Coffee Growers Cooperative Society, Thangwa echoed a bible verse noting that Ichunwga is on record with interfering with the prosperity of the mountain region
