Acting Police IG Gilbert Masengeli Found Guilty of Contempt of Court

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli has been found guilty of contempt of court for failing to appear before the High Court six times regarding the disappearance of Kitengela three . 

Justice Lawrence Mugambi said impunity and open defiance cannot be allowed and those hell-bent won’t find refuge.

Despite claiming he was engaged in operational matters in Wajir, Masengeli was seen at the Haiti Festival in Nairobi on sunday.

His legal team requested an extension for his appearance, citing official duties in Mombasa, Instead, Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat represented him in court.

 The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) filed the case, alleging that Bob Micheni and brothers Jamil and Aslam Longton were abducted by armed police and held incommunicado.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi had previously ordered the Inspector General and other security agencies to disclose the individuals’ whereabouts by 28th August, but this order has not been complied with. 

He will be sentenced on Friday.
