Gilbert Masengeli has taken over the reigns of Jogoo house as deputy inspector general of police incharge of the administration police
Speaking this afternoon when taking over the office from Jogoo house, Masengeli vowed to uphold the constitution.
Masengeli is assuming office at a time the police service has been under public scrutiny over the excesses meted against anti govt protesters with over 60 people dead according to Kenya National Human rights commission
The deputy IG Administration service office fell vacant following the resignation of former Inspector General of police Japhet Koome
Masengeli takes over from Noor Gabow, who was deployed to the Public Service.
John Kamau who was serving in an acting capacity handed the office to Masengeli.
Masengeli is also the acting inspector general of police following the nomination of Douglas Kanja who is awaiting approval by Parliament.
