Police Probe Murder of Patient at KNH Ward

Detectives are probing a disturbing incident at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where a male patient was found murdered inside Ward Seven on Thursday, July 17.

The victim, described as physically disabled, was discovered with his throat slit while lying in his hospital bed.

According to patients, an intruder is believed to have entered the ward and attacked the man before fleeing. Kilimani Police Commander Patricia Yegon and DCI officers visited the scene as investigations intensified. CCTV footage from the hospital’s corridors is being reviewed, though there are no surveillance cameras inside patient rooms.

This marks the second such killing in KNH this year. In February, another patient, Gilbert Kinyua, was found with a similar wound in his throat. In both cases, no arrests have been made.

The incidents have raised concerns over security lapses at the country’s largest referral hospital, with police and hospital officials under pressure to explain how such attacks are occurring in a guarded medical facility.
