Ruto Tells Leaders to Offer Youth Solutions, Not Violence, as He Vows to Protect Constitution

President William Ruto has challenged leaders urging young people to join protests to offer practical solutions to the challenges facing the youth instead of inciting violence.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Thursday while hosting Nairobi United Football Club, winners of the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup, Ruto said, “I want my plan of creating employment opportunities for our young people to be tested against that of my competitors.” He called on leaders to provide real solutions rather than empty slogans, saying the government remains focused on creating jobs and expanding opportunities for the youth.

The President affirmed his commitment to protecting the lives and property of all Kenyans, noting, “For now, I am the protector of the Constitution, and I will make sure that it is obeyed to the letter.”

Ruto praised Nairobi United for their commitment and hard work, saying, “You have committed yourself to the cause; you have overcome challenges; you have stayed the course, and now we celebrate you.” He pledged to donate a bus to the team and support its growth as it aims for greater heights.

Highlighting the importance of investing in young people, the President said, “Young people are the nation’s greatest asset,” adding that the government is allocating more resources to education, training, and sports to harness their potential.

Ruto condemned the vandalism of the under-construction Talanta Stadium during recent protests, terming the act unpatriotic. He emphasised the government’s commitment to improving Nairobi’s liveability, stating, “Nairobi being the headquarters of the United Nations Environmental Programme means that we have to make Nairobi clean by all means.”

He noted that the clean-up of the Nairobi River is on track for completion by 2027 and that the government will continue working with Nairobi County to enhance garbage collection and improve the city’s road network.
