Following an online campaign by a host the young generation dubbed the gen z to occupy Christ Is The Answer Ministries CITAM Valley Road church over allegations that the sanctuary turned away protesters seeking refuge last week Wednesday, yesterday Sunday service saw a host of worshippers miss the services citing safety concerns.
A source close to pearl Radio, has revealed that some of the worshippers including politicians and prominent powerful people dodged the services for fear of being linked to the church.
”The services were not well attended and the church was not full for fears that the activists could stage anything. I know the weather was bad ,but I could link the low turn out with the threats that they will occupy the church.” the source revealed
The activists made their threats true and attended the services and were even recognized as guests even as the senior pastor Rev Jesse Mwai insisted that no protester were turned away as speculated online.
”They were well received, recognized and even served tea as the visitors lobby. Our pastors clarified the reports to them that were going round that they were untrue.”
However, other sanctuaries including the newly unveiled Buruburu, Ngong, Kangundo Rd, Karen, Thika Rd, Woodley, just to mention but a few within the protests hotspots zones, had their services running normally without interruptions
In a statement last week CITAM maintained that it supports and will always defend justice and will make arrangements to help those who needed assistance during the protest.
Rev Mwai added that the church stands with all Kenyans for truth, justice, and unity as they work toward a more just and peaceful society.
“We firmly uphold the sanctity of life and categorically oppose all forms of violence, including the shedding of innocent blood, extra-judicial killings, rape, corruption, poor governance, and other social evils,” read the statement signed by CITAM Deputy Bishop Rev Justus Mugambi.
