Opposition leaders want mps to adjourn sittings protesting insecurity against them

Opposition leader Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka has clapped back at the National Police Service statement claiming the alleged abduction of  Juja MP George Koimburi was staged.

Kalonzo has termed the statement as a shame and rubbished the investigation launched by police as futile.

Kalonzo remarked on the existence of a killer squad sponsored by the state targeting opposition leaders criticizing government policies.

”Shame on anybody who thinks Mp Koimburi can abduct himself, and you want us police to believe your story. They are investigating themselves.” Kalonzo said.

Speaking from the Karen hospital after visiting the ailing Mp, former Public service cabinet secretary Justin Muturi further blamed the DCI and the inspector general of police Douglas Kanja of orchestrating Koimburi’s  alleged abduction and urged members of the national assembly to move a motion of adjournment when the house resumes this afternoon security of the Mps is guaranteed.

“We will expect the National Assembly to move a motion of adjournment to discuss the serious case of insecurity. It’s just the other day that a normal member was shot and killed.” Muturi said.

MP Koimburi was found dumped at a coffee plantation in Kiambu County on Monday after being captured by unknown individuals outside a church in Mugutha.

The National Police Service (NPS) has however dismissed the abductionclaims, saying the lawmaker had deliberately evaded arrest in connection with an ongoing land fraud investigation.

In a statement, the NPS addressed a viral video circulating on social and mainstream media that purportedly showed the MP being dumped at a farm in Juja.

The police service said Koimburi went into hiding after learning that officers intended to arrest him on Friday, May 23, following approval from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to proceed with charges
