Finance Bill 2025 tabled before the National Assembly

The speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has announced the tabling of the Finance Bill 2025 proposing revenue raising measures of the next fiscal budget projected to be Ksh 2.523 trillion

Wetangula says the bill will be passed to the finance and national planning committee for deliberation and first reading even as the house breaks for recess.

”Members will note that the house is scheduled to proceed for recess . This break will provide adequate time for committees to embark on this activity, among others. Finally, I encourage members to actively acquaint themselves with the incontinence of estimates and participate in exercise and ensure that their views and those of the electorate are taken into account during the consideration of the national.” Wetangula noted.

This as he cautioned members of parliament against propagating lies about the bill and instead engage the draft bill.

The Cabinet has approved the Finance Bill 2025 Tuesday , which has a focus on sealing tax loopholes rather than introducing new taxes.

Instead, the Cabinet said the government aims to enhance revenue through administrative efficiency.

Key changes include streamlining tax refunds, tightening tax dispute laws, and amending key tax acts to reduce evasion.

The minority leader of the National Assembly Junet Mohammed, rising on a standing order further castigated Mps allied to the opposition camp who have been propelling lies in the content of the bill.
