CS Kabogo Urges African Unity in Digital Growth at ICT Forum

ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has called for greater unity among African countries in digital development, opening the International Telecommunication Union ( Regional Development Forum (RDF) for Africa in Nairobi.

He highlighted Kenya’s launch of a National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and rapid advancements in digital infrastructure, including plans for 100,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable and 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots.

Kabogo emphasized the transformative potential of digital technology, citing a report predicting a $180 billion boost to Africa’s GDP through digital transformation.

However, he warned of challenges such as connectivity gaps, high data costs, and growing cybersecurity threats.

He urged African nations to address these issues and align their priorities ahead of the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The RDF forum aims to accelerate digital transformation and promote sustainable ICT growth across the continent.
