It is not time for election politics, Clergy warns elected leaders

Church leaders have called for an end to the high octane politics surrounding the 2027 general election and urged elected leaders to deliver on their mandates.

The clergy have lamented the wanton suffering facing kenyans, citing a worsening economic situation in the wake of alignments on the upcoming elections.

Speaking during the Pearl Radio breakfast show, Bishop Kepha Nyamweya, who is also the chairman of Kenya coalition of Church Alliances and Ministries, warned that too much political bickering will derail the development agenda of the President William Ruto regime.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s time for fixing what need to be fixed, isn’t it? But you see, politicians will always have their cake, and they’re already there, but we’re suffering. I mean, look at the economic status right now. Look at the payslips of our people and what Kenyans are going through. If I was in the position, I will be on issue based politics.” Omae lamented.

Bishop Kepha also took a swipe at the opposition leaders, accusing them of reluctance to taking elected leaders to account.

He urged them to highlight priority issues that need to be addressed for action by the government.

I wished the opposition could identify five things, four things, three things, and ensure, in a structured manner, engage government and ensure in the next one year, those two three things have been fixed. We are talking about abductions that must come to an end, and any other thing that we feel is hurting Kenyans must be dealt with decisively.” He added

The government and members of the opposition parties have been coalescing to form political alignments ahead of the next general election.

President William Ruto’s UDA party recented merged with Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party while Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua and her Azimio counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka have separately endorsed the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

The opposition leaders are pressing for reforms in key government policies that have failed to be realized.

These alignments, miraging 2027 election with a litany of unfulfilled promises from the Ruto regime.
