President William Ruto has nominated Gerald Nyaoma as the Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Nyaoma, a seasoned central banker with 36 years of experience, currently serves as the Director of the Bank Supervision Department at CBK.
His career includes leadership roles in Financial Markets Development, Banking Services, and the National Payment Services Division.
“With a background in critical roles across CBK, Mr. Nyaoma’s nomination aligns with our goals to enhance Kenya’s financial stability and regulatory strength,” Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said in the nomination statement.
He holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Commonwealth scholar, and graduated with First Class Honours in Economics from the University of Nairobi.
He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Secretary (CS), and an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers (AKIB).
The nomination now awaits Parliament’s approval following its formal transmission for review and confirmation.
