Woman ordered by the courts to pay the Nakuru Catholic diocese 23 million shillings after she fraudulently received money from the church for selling nonexistent land.
Justice Anthony Ombwayo from the environment and lands court directed Hannah Wairimu Kahiga to refund the church the money for the purchase of the 11 acres of land in Kiambogo, Naivasha sub-county with an additional 3.6 million shillings as damage.
Wairimu had allegedly sold the land to someone else using falsified documents.
The land in question forms part of the estate of Teresia Wanjiru Wangera who died in 1982.
Wairimu allegedly colluded with officers at the land’s office to execute the fraudulent sale.
