Somalia’s diplomat backs Odinga candidacy for the AUC job

Former prime minister Raila Odinga has received a boost to his africa union commission chairperson bid with an endorsement from Somalia

The Somalia aspirant Fawzia Yusuf Adam has announced that she has dropped her candidacy for the continental job and her backing for Odinga

The former premier in a tweet on X has welcomed his recent backing when he hosted the former Somalia Foreign Affairs Minister at his Capitol hill offices in Nairobi.

“Grateful for her support in my bid for AUC Chair. Wishing her all the best as she continues to champion Africa’s progress,” Raila said.

Odinga has said their meeting centered on key issues regarding the African continent.

Odinga now has a  full backing from the East Africa region safe for for Djibourt where he is set to contest in the race to succeed Moussa Faki

Odinga is also facing imminent competition from Madagascar and Mauritius whose candidate also beat the August deadline to submit their nomination to Addis Ababa.

Raila will run against Mahmoud Ali Youssouf from Djibouti, Anil Kumarsingh Gayan of Mauritius and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar.
