UNHCR Report Indicates Number Of Displaced Persons Has Increased

According to a report released by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) , At least 117.3 million people, or one in 69 individuals worldwide, remain forcibly displaced due to various reasons.

Nearly 50 million of the people affected by the displacement are reported to be children, with a large number of the total deemed to be refugees, asylum seekers and IDPs.

The crisis in Sudan has been categorically singled out as one of the most catastrophic and forgotten conflicts , with people not only facing displacement, but also facing hunger and violation of Human rights.

The conflict in Syria as well , continues to rise in displaced numbers, with more than 14 million Syrians displaced. The Syrian Civil War is an ongoing multi-sided conflict in Syria involving various state-sponsored and non-state actors.

Meanwhile, In Afghanistan, almost 11 million people have been displaced due to war, not leaving behind wars in Gaza, Ukraine , Myanmar and the Democratic republic of Congo , where The crisis is related to an offensive beginning in March 2022 by the March 23 Movement (M23).

The UN fears that the numbers will rise if geopolitical peace does not prevail, and if peace is not brokered in good time in the areas affected by conflict across the globe.
